The Islamic Revolutionary Guard in retaliation targeted US allied countries like Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait. Thursday’s escalation was broader, with air raid sirens sounding at least three times in Bahrain, home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters. Iran also launched missiles towards Kuwait and Qatar. Iran’s IRGC said it fired 10 ballistic missiles at a US command centre in West Asia and Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, calling it the “second phase” of retaliation for renewed US strikes. The IRGC warned further US aggression would trigger attacks on additional regional bases.
Meanwhile, Israel warned US of fresh Iranian plot to kill Trump. Sharing an intelligence report with the US indicating Iran had devised a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, two sources familiar in the matter said. However, no official have independently confirmed it yet. Officials also confirmed US President Donald Trump conducted a call with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, discussing about coordination in various sectors. Trump also informed Netanyahu about American moves in the region according to a post shared by the office of the prime minister of Israel on X.
Whilst the attacks continued on Thursday, slain Supreme leader of the nation Ayatollah Khamenei was put to rest four months after he was killed in the February 28th strikes along with his family on Thursday, concluding six days of funeral ceremonies across Iraq and Iran that drew huge crowds of mourners. Mourners and clerics surrounded the coffins of the deceased while several chanted slogans and carried flags to the Imam Reza shrine. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard told US strikes had also hit bridges along the route to Mashhad, while a senior Iranian commander vowed retribution for Khamenei’s killing.
Renewed strikes have hit multiple sites across southern Iran, including locations near the Bushehr nuclear facility, according to local officials and state media. Explosions were also reported in Bandar Abbas, media reported.
