Karachi: Underworld Don and India’s most wanted fugitive Dawood Ibrahim and his wife Mehajabin were confirmed tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. The couple is undergoing treatment at a military hospital there, stated media reports quoting top government sources in Pakistan.

Sources also said, after Dawood Ibrahim was tested positive, his personal staff and guards were asked to go into quarantine.

Earlier, in February 2020, in Asia-Pacific joint group meetings, Islamabad has consistently denied the presence of the terrorist and mafia don on its soil, and asserted that he is not a Pakistani national.

An accused in the 1993 Bombay blasts case, Dawood is said to be residing in Karachi. Dawood was designated as a global terrorist in 2003 by India and the United States. He carries a reward of USD 25 million on his head for his role in the 1993 Bombay bombings.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases in Pakistan has surged to a new high since the past few days. The number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan have crossed 89,000 so far. More than 1,800 people succumbed to this deadly virus in the country.
