SEOUL: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is currently facing impeachment and can be arrested at any time. Seoul police have reached his house with an arrest warrant to arrest him. But a crowd of his supporters outside Yoon’s residence has stopped the police officers. Dozens of police buses and thousands of police officers have been deployed around Yoon Suk-Yol’s residence to arrest Yoon.

Imposing martial law in the country proved costly for the ousted President. Yoon came under fire for suddenly imposing martial law in the country on the night of 3 December. Despite this, a crowd of protesters has gathered outside his residence in his support, who are shouting slogans in his support and are trying to stop the police from arresting Yoon.

On 14 December, an impeachment motion was brought in the Parliament to remove South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol from office on charges of suddenly imposing martial law in the country. After this, a Seoul court issued an arrest warrant against the removed President Yoon Suk Yeol on 31 December.

It is noteworthy that this is the first case in the history of South Korea when an arrest warrant has been issued against a president. The Seoul court has given instructions to senior officials of the Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) for this. Let us tell you that Yoon Suk Yeol was summoned several times for questioning in the case but he did not appear before the police even once. After this, an arrest warrant was issued against him.

President Yoon Suk Yeol suddenly declared martial law in the country on the night of December 3. After this, the opposition as well as the MPs of his party rejected his order and forced him to withdraw this decision. Currently, the President is facing impeachment and a criminal investigation is going on for his decision.

South Korea’s Justice Ministry recently confirmed that Yoon is the country’s president, who is banned from leaving the country while in office. Last week, President Yoon declared emergency martial law in support of North Korea for a decisive battle against ‘anti-national’ and ‘communist’ forces.
