Fitbit Air is all set to arrive in India very soon. The latest fitness wearable launched by google appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database- a key step before electronic products are officially sold in India, indicating its arrival in the market.
Google, is rewriting the fitness wearable history. Since its global debut last month, the device has been trending in the fitness industry. Unlike the traditional brands, Google decided to ditch the screens and buttons focusing on what it is meant to do-track health and fitness data with users able to view their information thrpugh Google’s companion app.
According to a BIS listing, the Fitbit Air carrying model number GW968 has been certified for India. The model number matches the device listed on Fitbit’s official support pages, strengthening speculation that Google is preparing to introduce the tracker in the Indian market.
Fitbit Air marks a major shift for the brand. For a long time, Fitbit devices have relied on screen to show notifications, work out details and health metrics ditching the display the Fitbit Air entirely relied on vibration alerts.
While the design is new, Fitbit’s core focus remains the same. The Air continues to track fitness and health activities, and it remains closely tied to Google’s software ecosystem. Users will still access their workout data, progress reports and health insights through the companion app.
Market of US, UK and parts of Europe and Australia have received a positive response for the simplicity though some users have reported connectivity issues and concerns about one size fits all band.
