The Meta-owned platform seems to be gearing up to launch another privacy-focused feature designed to safeguard users from unofficial WhatsApp web clients. The messaging platform is set to test a new warning system for Android users, which will appear when they connect their account through an unofficial WhatsApp web client. This alert will reportedly be displayed in the linked devices section. Using this feature, the users will be able to identify the third-party or unofficial WhatsApp web clients.
According to the WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the platform is testing a new warning for the Android users that appears when they connect their account through a third-party or an unofficial web client. This will help users to switch to official WhatsApp Web to keep their account safe. As per a report by the feature tracker, a screenshot is being making rounds on the social media, which offers a glimpse on how it works. In regards to the warning, it will be shown at the bottom of the screen asking users to switch to the official client to continue officials said.
WhatsApp is considering to release thr feature in concern to data leak to third-party softwares, putting clients’ privacy at risk. Official WhatsApp with end-to-end encryption can be accessed at web.whatsapp.com.
Meta officials recently teased the new scam alert feature to alert users about potential scam messages.
