Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) will soon initiate a large-scale recruitment of teachers to replace almost four lacs of vacant teaching positions in government schools of the state. The recruitment campaign is likely to be the biggest in the years within the last decade, and is planned to overcome a teacher shortage in cities and in rural schools.
Officials say that vacancy data from urban areas is already submitted to the Commission and they’re still gathering data from the rural districts. After the full vacancy report is received and verified, the full recruitment process is expected to start.
There is a greater emphasis on vacancies in rural areas, with over 48,000 teaching positions for these areas unfilled. These additional 11,508 slots are for urban schools. Filling these posts will lead to better student-teacher ratio and quality of government education schools, in the state, believes education authorities.
While the official notification has yet to be released, the preparations are on track and it seems like the recruitment process might start soon. The announcement will create a huge wave of interest among the job seekers and lakhs of teaching aspirants are likely to apply to the available positions.
This drive is being considered as a crucial initiative to mitigate the persistent shortage of teachers in Uttar Pradesh’s education system.
