The school has been announced closed throughout the district of Muzaffarnagar till the 10th day in view of the Kanwar Yatra, which is currently underway in the region. It has been decided to keep the safety of the students in mind as lakhs of pilgrims will pass through the district during the annual pilgrimage.
During this time, the administration said, the flow of pilgrims on key highways and roadways will. greatly increase, resulting in the problems of traffic congestion and security. In this regard, officials instruct all government, aided and private schools of the district to reschedule the physical classes for the week period.
The temporary closure is simply a measure to avoid the inconvenience of parents and to keep students, teachers and parents safe, officials said. The district administration has also admonished schools to adhere to the directive.
Kanwar Yatra is one of the biggest religious tours organized in North India annually in which devotees of Lord Shiva gather sacred water from the Ganga and carry it to their respective religious places. The town of Muzaffarnagar is situated along the well-known road for thousands of Kanwariyas (unemployed laborers) who pass through western Uttar Pradesh on an annual basis.
A few traffic diversions and restrictions are also put in place to pave the way for the smooth flow of the yatra. The residents are requested to make arrangements for their movements, and to assist the Police and Traffic authorities.
Schools will be called back to resume normal academic endeavours after August 10th as will be reviewed subsequently by the district administration.
