A total of at least eleven people lost their lives as the intense storm, along with heavy rainfall and fierce winds, ravaged northern India, resulting in massive damage in the regions of Bhadohi and Budaun of Uttar Pradesh.
Akhilesh Yadav wrote on X, “It is extremely heartbreaking that due to the severe storm, 54 people have lost their lives in Bhadohi, Fatehpur, Sonbhadra, Badaun, and many other places in UP, and millions of people have been severely affected by the collapse of houses, trees, and walls”.
Casualties and Regional Effect
In the region of Bhadohi, six individuals have already been confirmed dead. According to Additional District Magistrate Kunwar Virendra Kumar Maurya, the casualties were caused by the collapse of houses due to the storm’s force in different regions of the district.
The storm was responsible for killing five people in Budaun, among whom two were children.
Tragic Incident in Siddhpur Kaitholi: Two young females, aged nine and ten years respectively, met a tragic end when the mud wall of their hut broke during the storm, and they were under it seeking shelter.
Accidents Related to Fallen Trees: One driver perished after a giant eucalyptus tree felled upon him and his truck. Another person lost his life as a tree fell on him while he delivered food to his father.
Collapsed Shelter: In Tark Paroli, one woman was killed when a tree fell on her inside a tubewell room, where she and other people sought refuge.
