During a high-level meeting at Industry Auditorium of Joint Commissioner Office from HBTU campus in Kanpur Division, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed key projects under the Public Works Department (PWD). Proposals for development and plans for infrastructure for the financial year 2026-27 were highlights of the meeting.
In his presence, the public representatives of Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Etawah, Auraiya and Farrukhabad presented proposals for roads, bridges and other infrastructure developments. The Chief Minister pointed out that the members of the elected committee have a foresight of needs and their recommendation should be taken into consideration while chalking out the development plans.
Adityanath told the department it will ensure projects related to public welfare to be completed on time and implemented. He also directed officials to get compensation from the persons or institutions having damaged the PWD roads and importance of the maintenance of road quality and durability was emphasized.
Particular emphasis was placed on those projects that fall under the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, state highways, major and minor bridges, railway overbridges (ROBs), railway underbridges (RUBs), religious connectivity roads, flyovers and road safety projects. The chief minister urged government officials to ensure there is transparency in the implementation and all the approved projects be completed in a specified time.
No more than ₹11,724 crore of proposals had been received from the six districts of Kanpur division, officials told the meeting. This includes 1,374 development projects in the transport and infrastructure.
The Chief Minister has also directed to have local public representatives included in foundation stone laying and inauguration of development activities. He told them that carelessness or the postponement of project implementation they would not tolerate, and reiterated the commitment of the government of the country to providing quality infrastructure in the region.
