Rajasthan News: Amidst the ongoing global energy crisis and tensions in West Asia, a significant and comforting news has emerged for India from the deserts of Rajasthan. Oil India Limited (OIL) has discovered a new and large reserve of natural gas in the Dandewala field in the border district of Jaisalmer. This discovery is being considered a game-changing step towards India’s energy self-sufficiency.
For the first time, natural gas has successfully flowed from the Sanu Formation in the Dandewala area. Significantly, this region has previously produced conventional gas, but the discovery of gas in the shallow layers of the Sanu Formation represents a new and significant scientific breakthrough.
According to Oil India Limited, the company drilled this new well to a depth of approximately 950 meters. Initial testing has already recorded a daily production of approximately 25,000 standard cubic meters of gas. Based on geological analysis, this new deposit is expected to contain approximately 75 million standard cubic meters of gas resources.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said – a new chapter has begun
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri expressed his happiness on this major success on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is steadily moving forward towards increasing domestic energy production. This success in Rajasthan will give new impetus to our energy self-reliance campaign. Energy Maharatna Oil India Limited has written a new chapter by unlocking a new gas field in the Dandewala field.”
