The Cockroach Janta Party had plans that their next protest will be taking place in Jaipur. But a recent development in this case is that the party has been denied permission to protest in Jaipur.
Party sources said that the demonstration was supposed to be held at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur. But the local police refused, saying there are law-and-order issues. The permission for the proposed assembly could not be granted as facts and circumstances have been assessed during the review process, the Jaipur Police said in an official statement. The order was issued by a senior police official and cited public order issues as the principle reason behind the order.
In response, leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party stated that they were working towards approval for several days before receiving this denial. Party representatives questioned the need for the decision and asked for a rethinking of the request by authorities.
The organisation said it would have a peaceful demonstration, highlighting the problems of students and the young people aspiring to jobs, including concerns on irregularities in the examinations and paper leak cases. CJP leaders also stated that they might seek permission once again via a constitutional and peaceful approach at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate. The party has insisted that its demonstrations in its different cities have taken place peacefully.
The event was expected to be part of a broader campaign that raised a number of issues regarding competitive examinations and the issues of the youth. The organisers said there was an increasing participation and support from the public in recent weeks.
The police have not stated whether there is any change in their stance yet. The issue is still pending as party officials are still looking for official permission to hold the demonstration.
