Vidisha: Late Tuesday night, Police naka check near Vidisha-Sagar Highway, near Mirzapur, intercepted a mini truck loaded with 14 cows. The police arrested three men who were suspected to be involved in the process of cattle theft. The arrested persons included Javed Khan, Ajmal Khan, and Ayub Khan.
It has emerged from the stories that these three were moving 14 cows in a small Ashok Leyland truck. They tried to transit the cows through the Mirzapur Highway at night. It came to light when local Hindu organization operation activists who got wind of such operations from inside sources went to the scene and immediately reported the matter to the police.
Not taking much time, the CSP of Vidisha, Atul Singh, along with his team, apprehended the three culprits without delay. The police also took the mini truck and the cows as specimens of the crime that was committed.
CSP Atul Singh said to the media that police have filed a case against the accused under Section 11 of the PCA or the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The police have followed through in the process by interrogating the suspects, and they have been subjected to a medical check-up.
State governments, as Chaturvedi of the Hindu organization pointed out, are committed to the safety of cows. He asked the Chief Minister to initiate measures to curb similar smuggling episodes in the future by adopting foolproof measures. To our knowledge, the author Chaturvedi said that the protection of cows should be the initial issue and that increased laws would discourage the culprits who indulge in unlawful activities.
This aligns with the constant fight against cattle theft and smuggling in the region, as showcased by the local activists and police force. This particular incident has again highlighted the need to employ strong measures to implement animal rights laws that can check the cruelty and unlawful movement of animals.
