Indore: Dwarka Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati breathed his last on Sunday afternoon in Narsignhpur district, MP officials said. According to his close-aids, Swami Swaroopanand, who was the Shankracharya of Dwarka, Sharda, and Jyotish Peeth, was not keeping well for over a year.
Confirming his death, Swami Sadanand Maharaj second in command of Dwarka Peeth said the seer died at 3: 30 pm on Sunday.
Shankaracharya born as Pothiram Upadhyay in Dighori village in the Seoni district was 99 years and will be buried in the Ashram itself, a close aide from the ashram said. The Samadhi Program is being organized at Paramhansi Ganga Ashram at 4 pm on Monday, it added. He had left his home at the age of nine in the pursuit of God and was incarcerated during the freedom struggle.
