Bhopal: After claiming the Guna Lok Sabha seat, a Rajya Sabha seat from Madhya Pradesh has fallen vacant of Jyotiraditya Scindia. The Election Commission, therefore, is likely to declare the time frame for the elections within the next six months.

After the LS polls, ten RS seats in the country have become vacant as their occupant is now in the LS, including Scindia. The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has officially advertised for these vacancies, two from each of Assam, Bihar and Maharashtra, from each of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Tripura. The Election Commission will soon make new dates for conducting elections for these positions in Rajya Sabha.

Announcing it in an official notification, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat reported, “Under Clause 69 sub-clause (2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 read with Clause 67A sub-clause (4) and Clause 68 of the said Act, the persons listed below who has been elected members of 18th Lok Sabha shall cease to be members of the Rajya Sabha from the date of such election that is

That is why timely elections are critically important to keep the functioning and representation in the upper house of Parliament. The vacancies make it mandatory for the Election Commission to work so hard to replace these people for the legislative processes to continue and for democracy to be served.

Moreover, it relays the relationship between the lower house of the Indian parliament and the upper house of the Indian parliament, stressing the roles of healthy exchanges of legislators and existing systems to cope with any absence of representation.

When the parties get ready for the elections to fill up these RRajya Sabha seats vacant, the emphasis is placed on affiliation, nomination of candidates and the election campaigning in the concerned states. Elections of members to these councils will not only shape the composition of the Rajya Sabha but will also determine the emerging parliamentary dynamics in the decision-making structures of the nation.
