Troubles have increased for suspended Municipal Corporation Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) Jitendra Pandey after police connected with Lokayukta started to freeze the bank lockers belonging to him and began digging through his financial and family property papers, in connection with an investigation into the allegation of disproportionate assets.
The Lokayukta team has asked for more detailed data from multiple government ministries for them to create the financial profile of the officer. Officials have also frozen the bank locks of his bank locker accounts and are also looking into documents concerning allegedly agricultural lands belonging to him and his relatives.
Lokayukta police have written to the Income Tax Dept requesting Pandey’s income tax returns and financial statements. The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has also been requested to give information on the details of vehicles that have been registered in the name of members of his family.
Investigators are also seeking details on insurance policies were held by the family and the cost of international trips. Part of the ongoing investigation includes a review of Pandey’s children’s education costs.
The purpose of the probe is to compare the officer’s known sources of income to his assets, investments and expenditure. Once the Lokayukta team have finished its inquiry into the financial records and the documents showing a man’s property, further action is to be expected.
