Jabalpur Cruise Accident: A high-level investigation committee has been formed to investigate the Jabalpur cruise ship accident in Madhya Pradesh. The committee was formed on the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. The high-level committee, consisting of the Director General of Home Guards and Civil Defense, the Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Government, and the Commissioner of Jabalpur Division, will conduct the investigation.
This committee will examine the cause of the accident, the rules governing cruise operations, and other facts. The Chief Minister has stated that strict action will be taken against those responsible following the investigation. He has also issued instructions to prevent such tragic incidents from recurring in the future.
In fact, April 30th proved fatal for many families at Jabalpur’s Bargi Dam. Like any other day, tourists were enjoying a cruise on Thursday evening. Suddenly, a strong wind and storm began to blow, causing the cruise to sway and sink in the water. The tragedy erupted in outrage. Before anyone could recover, more than 30 people aboard the cruise began drowning one by one.
Local people tried to save
Seeing people drowning in the dam, people present there tried to rescue them. As soon as the information about the incident was received, NDERF, SDERF, Army, divers, and the administrative team took charge. Some tourists managed to save their lives by swimming themselves, while some people were safely rescued by divers and administrative team. Till the time of writing this news, bodies of 9 people have been recovered, including 7 women and a child. The search for 4 missing people is continuing on war footing.
Rajesh Soni, a survivor who was on board with three family members, said weather alerts should have stopped the boat from sailing. “Despite that, the boat was allowed to operate. It is a major lapse,” he said. His other family members were rescued safely.
