Indore: In the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the faces of over 10,000 duty-assigned polling staff lit up with joy when they received instant messages on their mobile phones, notifying the transfer of their honorarium as soon as they deposited the EVM machines. The District Election Officer in Indore had assured the election staff that the honorarium amount would be transferred to their accounts immediately upon the submission of their EVM machines.
A sum of over 1.5 crore was swiftly transferred to the accounts of more than 10,000 polling employees. This was a remarkable departure from the previous practice, where the honorarium amount used to reach their accounts a couple of months after the conclusion of the elections. The polling staff, upon witnessing the immediate transfer of their honorarium upon depositing the EVMs, expressed a unique sense of happiness on their faces.
The District Election Officer, Elayaraja T, had made this commitment to the polling staff. Previously, the honorarium amount would reach their accounts only two months after the elections concluded. This immediate transfer was a part of the special arrangements for police personnel engaged in the election duties, whose honorarium will be credited as soon as their holidays end.
For any failed transactions, the transaction amount will be retransferred to their accounts on Monday. The prompt transfer of honorarium added to the gratitude expressed by the polling staff towards the District Election Officer. Overall, the initiative was well-received, bringing joy to the faces of those who played a crucial role in the electoral process.
