Bhopal: With the Madhya Pradesh elections approaching, both the BJP and Congress are trying to win over voters and secure the state. In a gesture to appeal to the electorate, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Friday that he would facilitate air travel for older citizens in the state who wish to go on pilgrimage trips. This announcement was made during his speech at the ‘Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Sammelan’ held in Panna district.
Chouhan criticized the Congress government led by Kamal Nath, accusing them of discontinuing welfare initiatives that the BJP introduced. He expressed disappointment saying, ” soon as they came into power, Congress and Kamal Nath stopped all our welfare schemes. We had programs where children received funds for bicycles, and students were given money to buy laptops; Congress terminated all of these.” He also highlighted how financial assistance provided to mothers during and after childbirth was halted, emphasizing the importance of these beneficial schemes.
Furthermore, Chouhan reiterated his commitment to caring for citizens by stating, “I had previously initiated a program allowing elders to undertake pilgrimages. Unfortunately, this initiative was scrapped by Congress. However, I now promise to reinstate this program using flights of trains.”The Chief Minister also pointed out another program where the government offered assistance for daughters’ marriages. This initiative was also abolished under the Congress administration.
Addressing plans, Chouhan stated, “I am resolved to enhance the Ladli Bahna Yojana’s financial allocation, increasing it from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 monthly. Additionally, we will introduce science classes in Gunaur’s college and elevate Gunaur’s Girls’ High School to a Higher Secondary School.” All these initiatives exemplify Chouhan’s dedication to fostering growth and welfare in Madhya Pradesh.
