Following Following controversial remarks drawing a comparison between Lord Ram and Lord Krishna during a religious discourse, Bageshwar Dham chief Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has issued a public apology. Clarifying his statement. Shastri said, “Logo ne arth ka anarth kiya” (People misinterpreted the meaning of my words).

In his apology, he maintained that the remarks were made in deep devotion and were misunderstood. In a video circulating online, Bageshwar Dham chief Shastri is seen holding his hands as he seeks forgiveness from anyone whose religious sentiments might have been hurt.

The controversy erupted after Shastri described Lord Ram as ‘Seedhe’ and Lord Krishna as ‘Teedhe’ during a katha. His remarks triggered criticism from several quarters, questioning his choice of words and whether they disrespected the latter Hindu lord.

Responding to the controversy, Shastri explained that his statement was made out of affection, a playful expression of devotion rather than an insult to the Lords. He further said these expressions were common in devotional traditions, where saints and devotees sometimes lovingly reproach their deities. He said he frequently praises Lord Krishna during Srimad Bhagavat Katha discourses and wishes to reside in Braj. He rejected the allegations that he intended to create differences between the two gods.
