In his charge, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit threatens to write defamation cases against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAC Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh for accusing him of accepting money from the BJP. The accusations were leveled by Atishi during a press briefing a few days back, during which she accused Dikshit of dealing with the BJP by taking huge amounts of money from it.
At his own press conference, Dikshit rejected such claims and categorically said, “About 5-6 days ago, Delhi CM Atishi said that I am taking a huge amount of money from the BJP. Since the past 10-12 years AAP has begun to target me and my family and the congress party.” Dikshit, who is the son of the late Sheila Dikshit, a former Delhi Chief Minister, has also complained that the AAP leadership continues to attack his family and demanded to know why.
He also said that BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra threatened him, saying that a BJP delegation met Arvind Kejriwal after he became Chief Minister and asked him to provide proof of his opposition to the Sheila Dikshit government. “Kejriwal used to walk around with 360 pages of evidence against Sheila Dikshit’s government,” Dikshit added.
Targeting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Dikshit countered the comment, saying that it was strange that Atishi came up with such statements on the very day that ex-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed on and thus could not respond to it immediately.
Dikshit also had a dig at AAP’s governance, asking why the party has chosen to inaugurate social welfare schemes when assembly elections are nearing. “This question then arises: why are they implementing these schemes now? They have been in power for five years. What did they do? They come out with these measures today only,” he said.
