New Delhi: The Delhi police have arrested a 32-year-old man for painting objectionable messages hurting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on two Delhi Metro stations. Two separate instances were reported at Rajiv Chowk and Patel Nagar Metro stations; thus, police filed an FIR in both cases. The accused was identified as Ankit Goyal and has been arrested from Bareilly, he is still under questioning.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly condemned the threats and blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for it to defame Kejriwal. AAP MP Sanjay Singh claimed that the plot to eliminate Kejriwal stemmed from the PMO and that the Delhi Chief Minister’s assassination was on the horizon. Singh said, “The BJP has been in a state of panic ever since Arvind Kejriwal came out of jail. The BJP is now plotting to launch a deadly attack on Arvind Kejriwal. This conspiracy is being conducted directly from the Prime Minister’s Office.”
In addition, Atishi, a senior AAP leader, said that even though there are CCTV cameras and security personnel at the Metro stations, the police and Cyber Cell have still not acted. She asked: “These stations are tapped by CCTVs and security guards are deployed throughout the day and night. Why are the police not getting involved and stopping or arresting those people? The film location of the Cyber Cell is not certain but it is likely to be in London as the movie is predominantly based in the city. This shows that this is being orchestrated by the BJP. Furthermore, it reveals that CPI(M) has a dispute with BJP as it explains that BJP’s strategy is to ensure that their party forms the government.”
The event has brought fear and alarm that continues to be witnessed in people’s security issues, especially politicians. The arrest of the suspect brings some comfort to the people and lifts the burden of worry away from the community. Yet, at the same time, it is a sad reminder of how vulnerable individuals are to crime and shows that more effort must be made to protect people from such perils in the future.
