The Delhi Government officially opened its registration for the Lakshmi Yojana on Saturday and women started queuing at the registration camps across the city for government financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month under the scheme.
The registration opened at 8 am on the online portal of the scheme, and the Women and Child Development Department has arranged for registration camps to help the applicants in the registration process. As of 12 Noon, 1083 women had already completed their registration through the government.
At the camps, officials and volunteers check the eligibility of the applicants, fill in personal and family information, upload necessary documents and also complete the online application procedure. There were long lines outside of many centres from the early morning.
The officials have said that it took approximately 25 to 30 minutes to complete the registration process and some statesmen have said the formalities took them around 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Authorities are hoping the work will be quicker as the number of volunteers with experience of the portal increases and the applicants begin with all the required documents.
The registration process consists of eligibility verification, submission of family inputs, bank information and uploading supporting documents with the last step of application submission.
Women who were able to follow the steps described the process as an easy and well-organized one. In particular, several applicants expressed appreciation for the volunteers’ help in assisting them at each stage and during overcoming technical/ documentation issues.
Under the scheme, the Delhi Government will provide immediate monetary support to eligible women, and also maintain transparency and assist among the citizens with dedicated assistance camps in various areas of the capital, the government said in a statement.
