SUKMA: Three District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans were killed and two injured after an encounter broke out between them and the Naxals on Saturday in the naxal dominated Sukma district CG.

The face off took place at 9 am after the security personnel were witnessed by the Naxals, said. A team of DRG had launched a combing operation in Jagargunda police station limits, located over 400 km away from capital Raipur following a tip off.

While the forces were on their way from Jagargunda to Kunded forested terrain, the rebels opened indiscriminate firing which was retaliated by the forces, said an official.

According to the sources, the team of security forces was trapped in an ambush laid by the suspected Red brigades. Many cadres of the Maoist were also believed to have been injured in the gunfight.

The deceased included ASI Ramuram Nag and two constables Kunjam Joga and Ganjam Bheema.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief and extended condolences over the martyrdom of three jawans in the Maoist attack.
