Dantewada: The Supreme Court has dismissed the NIA’s appeal in the Jhiram case, sparking allegations and counter-allegations between the Congress and BJP senior leaders. The Jhiram incident, now a decade old, continues to haunt the affected families, yearning for the truth and justice. The incident, a cornerstone in the political landscape of South Bastar, revolves around the tragic demise of the late Mahendra Karma, a prominent figure in the Bastar region.

The Karma family, who perceives the incident as a heinous act by Naxals targeting not only their family head but the chief of Bastar as well, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision. The political scenario surrounding Jhiram during the BJP regime refrained from unveiling the truth, and the NIA’s investigation lacked strength and concrete evidence, leading to the Supreme Court’s dismissal.

Congress leaders express hope for justice as they anticipate their return to power, promising a thorough investigation into the Jhiram case. Chhavindra Karma, son of Mahendra Karma, acknowledges the previous demand for a state inquiry, criticizing the NIA for succumbing to central government pressures. He expresses gratitude to the Supreme Court for rejecting the NIA’s report and entrusting the investigation to the state police.

Dantewada MLA and Mahendra Karma’s widow, Devati Karma, echo the sentiment of respecting the Supreme Court’s decision and anticipate the revelation of the truth. Meanwhile, Tulika Karma, the District Panchayat President, adds that while the Naxal attack is acknowledged, there are lingering mysteries that need clarification. She expresses confidence in the state government’s commitment to a thorough investigation and reassures that those found guilty will not be spared.

As the case takes a new turn with the Supreme Court’s decision, the affected families and political leaders await the unfolding of events, hoping for transparency, accountability, and closure in the Jhiram case.
