An accident on the Kabirdham-Kundinagaram highway on Monday morning claimed the life of a motorcyclist, after a Hyva truck, carrying provisions for the festival, overspeeded and hit him. The person was killed on the scene as a result of being hit by the truck.
The deceased has been identified as Arjun Baiga, a resident of Jamuniya village. Preliminary reports suggest that the crash took place in the area of the police station in Lohara when the motorcycle hit the oncoming speeding Hyva truck. The impact sent the rider onto the road, followed by a report of the truck running over the rider, resulting in serious injuries.
The victim had serious head trauma and died on the scene,” witnesses reported. The crash attracted many of the community’s residents and the police were notified. Shortly after receiving the alert officers from Lohara police station arrived at the scene and commenced investigation.
The body was handed over to the police, who have done a post-mortem examination. A search is also underway for the truck driver, who was reported to have immediately gotten away after the crash.
The accident has left the victim’s family reeling and locals worry about the speed of heavy vehicles on the route. Police officials said they are working to trace back the driver and figure out why the crash occurred.
The accident comes as part of a string of fatal road incidents involving trucks in the area, underscoring the critical issue of road safety and traffic control.
