Raipur: In a significant political development in Chhattisgarh, a group of 29 Congress party members, including prominent leaders Abhijeet Bhattacharya and district spokesperson Animesh Chakravarti, has submitted their collective resignations. This move comes in the wake of discontent and protests over the denial of a ticket to Anoop Nag, a well-known figure in the Antagarh constituency of Kanker district, Chhattisgarh. Antagarh has long been in the spotlight due to political developments, often benefiting the opposition, as a result of internal politics within the Congress party.
The Congress party has a history of internal factionalism that has traditionally favored the opposition in the region. Anoop Nag, who has served as a Congress worker since the age of 18 and held positions such as the former Block President and District Congress Committee member, was one of the prominent leaders in the party. However, he has now been denied a ticket in favor of an independent candidate.
The decision to overlook Anoop Nag has raised concerns among Congress workers and leaders in the region, as Anoop Nag enjoys considerable popularity among the local population. Many in the party see this as an unjust move, especially as Anoop Nag has actively participated in various development projects in the region, contributing significantly to its progress.
Anoop Nag’s substantial local support, combined with his track record of overseeing and facilitating major development initiatives, has led to a wave of discontent within the regional Congress leadership and its workers. As a result, they have collectively chosen to resign from the Congress party.
This situation underscores the ongoing challenges within the party in the Antagarh constituency, highlighting the complex dynamics of local politics. The decision to back Anoop Nag as an independent candidate aims to leverage his local influence and popularity to secure victory in the upcoming Antagarh constituency elections.
