RAIPUR: As per the order released by the state Education Department schools in the capital city will function from 7:30 am effective from April 5th. The order by the District Education Officer GL Thakur came in view of the heatwave alert issued by the IMD.
According to the order primary and middle schools will begin at 7:30 am and close by 11:30 am, while the higher secondary schools will run from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm.
India is expected to have above-normal temperatures from April-June as per forecast by IMD. IMD on Saturday said above-normal heatwave days are predicted in most parts of central, east and northwest India during this period.
“A significantly higher number of heatwave days are predicted over parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana,” IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mahapatra said in a virtual press conference.
