Khairagarh: Criminal activities in Khairagarh district have also increased in recent years. Last night, the robbers managed to intrude on the Jama Masjid, situated at Gol Bazaar and Sarafa Bazaar, which is the local business center. They succeeded in taking away some fifty thousand rupees and cleared the donation box. They also stole the hard disk of the mosque’s CCTV cameras and hence complicated the investigation process.
The event has drawn a lot of concern in the local society, especially among the commercial people who usually visit the region. A local trader, Nupur Roy, said, “If thieves can target a place of worship in a busy market, then there are serious concerns about the safety of our own businesses.” Jameel Memon added that Khairagarh is the central part of the city with a large commercial area and Sarafa Bazaar. Still, he chimed in on police inaptitudes of duty, pointing an accusing finger to the fact that there is no night patrol, let alone monitoring of the area, hence boosting of crime rates.
The management of the mosque has passed on the case to the Khairargarh police station where the crime was alleged to have taken place. The police have opened the matter and are in the process of searching the robbers. This case points to a major security breach in that the area has installations of Cameras, but the thieves had their way with their plans without capture.
This robbery was not only a sign of increasing tendency among criminals but also highlighted concern over the efficiency of local police. The community is now having to deal with the consequences of this insecurity, with religious and commercial establishments concerned for their protection.
