Chhattisgarh: Former Chief minister Ajit Jogi passed away today at a private hospital in Chhattisgarh after he suffered cardiac arrest for the third time within a span of 20 days. The veteran politician, who was brought in to the hospital on May 9, was on life support and was being monitored by a disciplinary team of doctors.
Leaders across the political divide are expressing their condolences.
Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said his demise is a big political loss. “The death of the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Shri Ajit Jogi is a major political loss for the State of Chhattisgarh. He will always live in the memories of all the people of the State. Humble tribute. Om Shanti!”
Dr. Charandas Mahant, Speaker, Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, also expressed grief over Jogi’s death said “I am deeply saddened by the demise of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi ji. Personal damage due to Jogi’s death, as well as irreparable damage to the state. “
Amit Jogi, Ajit Jogi’s Son, expressed his grief over his father’s death and informed that cremation will be held tomorrow in his native land Gaurela.
He said ” Feeling anguished and speechless in this moment. May his soul rest in peace and god gives us strength to bear this huge loss”
Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik expresses grief over death of Ajit Jogi ” Deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of veteran leader & former Chhattisgarh CM #AjitJogi. My thoughts & prayers are with the bereaved family.”
Chhattisgarh Health Minister T.S. Singh deo on Jogi’s demise ” Deeply saddened to Hear the news of the death of former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Shri Ajit Jogi. I wish the family, loved ones and supporters the strength to withstand this hour of grief.”
Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal has also expressed sadness over Jogi’s death.
Former CM of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh also condoled the death of first chief minister, said “I am deeply saddened with the news of first chief minister demise. His death is an irreparable loss to the state, today a political history of the state has ended with Shri Ajit ji. God give peace to the departed soul and patience to the family.”
