SUKMA, CG: A reward-carrying Naxal surrendered before security forces in Sukma district, CG an official said. According to sources, the Naxal had a bounty of Rs 8 Lakh on his head.
Sodi Mukka, the Naxal who surrendered was a member of the ‘South Bastar Battalion’ of the outlawed CPI (Maoist), said district Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma. Officials added that he also served as a security guard for senior Naxalite leaders between 2019 and 2020.
As per sources, Mukka has cited being impressed by the district police’s rehabilitation drive due to which he surrendered.
Meanwhile, in a bid to curb Naxal activities in the residential areas on the borders of neighboring Chhattisgarh state, in three Naxal-affected police stations, Special Squad will be formed and 30 local youths would be appointed under the same.
