A road accident in Kabirdham district in the state of Chhattisgarh that took the lives of four young men after their car lost control and plunged in a river at a very late time. This happened within the boundaries of the Pandatarai police station, near Gadai village, when the vehicle was plunging off a bridge over the Phok river.
The victims were coming back to Raipur, according to the initial information, they attended a wedding ceremony in Pandariya. The car, with six occupants, was reported as over speeding when they were crossing the bridge and the car lost control and crashed into the river below.
The impact killed four occupants, who were identified as Armaan Khan, Saunf, Anas and Kaunen. Junaid Raza and Arzu Khan, another two, suffered critical injuries. The first people to get to the scene were local villagers who alerted the police. Immediately rescue operations were equipped, with the aid of locals, and after a great deal of effort, the injured were pulled out of the wreckage.
The injured were first admitted to a district hospital and then to a private medical facility, as their condition was critical to the point of being admitted to a hospital. In the meantime, the corpses of the dead were sent to the postmortem before being delivered to their families.
According to police officials, the cause of the accident seems to be primarily exceeding speed and losing control though an in-depth investigation is in progress. The families are devastated and a pall of sorrow has been cast over the region as a result of the incident.
