Dhamtari: Dhamtari police has achieved a big success under the Maoist eradication campaign. A Naxal couple carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh each has surrendered. Both these Naxals were involved in violent activities for a long time. The Naxal couple, fed up with the cruel ideology and lifestyle of the Maoists, and influenced by the rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government, abandoned the path of violence and surrendered. Two rewarded Naxals, Nagari Area Committee/Gobra ALOS member Tikesh and Sita Nadi Area Committee/ACM member Pramila, have surrendered.
Both the Maoists have been involved in several incidents including murder, attempt to murder, encounter, planting of IEDs. Impressed by the rehabilitation and surrender policy of the Chhattisgarh government, both the Naxalites surrendered before Dhamtari Superintendent of Police Anjaneya Varshney and Additional Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar Nayak.
Brief description of surrendered Naxalite Tikesh
Tikesh alias Tikeshwar Vatti (38 years), a resident of Ekawari village, has been a member of the Nagari Area Committee/Gobra LoS and has 32 serious crimes registered against him. He has been involved in incidents like murder, attempt to murder, encounter, and planting of IEDs in Dhamtari, Gariaband and Kanker districts. He joined the Sitanadi Area Committee in 2009 and became a member of the Gobra LoS in 2010. Tikesh has been involved in many major incidents, including police-Maoist encounters, attacks on STF teams, and killings of villagers.
