New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu held a meeting at the Rashtrapati Bhavan with families impacted by Naxal violence in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh recently. She emphasized that using violence for any reason is unacceptable as it causes harm to society. The President urged wing extremists to give up methods and join the mainstream. She guaranteed that every possible measure would be taken to address their grievances and concerns.
President Murmu emphasized the importance of Mahatma Gandhi’s violence principles and stated that they embody the core values of democracy as well as a solution for a world troubled by violence; she encouraged all to embrace peace and tolerance as the key to advancing toward a harmonious and forward-looking society.
Before this gathering took place, the families affected by Naxal activities had a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. During that discussion, Shah mentioned that the efforts of the Modi government have been quite effective in addressing Naxalism with the exception of four districts in Bastar. He also stated that a target date of March 31st, 2026, has been set to eliminate the Naxal threat. In addition, Shah made an appeal to the Naxalites to lay down their weapons and embrace peace again.
The government’s dedication to tackling the underlying reasons behind the uprising and supporting extremists in their reintegration efforts highlights a strategy focused on both resolving conflicts and fostering unity. Home Minister Amit Shah and President Droupadi Murmu have said that the government will be looking forward to take strict actions against the naxals.
