JASHPUR: In a heart-wrenching incident, the body of a five-day-old baby was found hanging to a tree in Ghughari gram panchayat, Jashpur under Bagcha PS limit on Monday said officials. Along with the girl was another body, that is believed to be of the mother.
The deceased woman was identified as Sanmuni Bai. Preliminary probe revealed she delivered a premature baby girl, whom her husband disowned. Distressed by her financial conditions she decided to committed suicide =, said officers investigating the case.
On questioning, the husband revealed that his wife was suffering from a mental illness and hence committed suicide.
Further investigations are underway.
