Raipur: After a long time in the Mukesh Chandrakar murder case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested the main accused, Suresh Chandrakar, on Sunday night from Hyderabad. The accused will now be taken to Bijapur for further questioning of him or her. People who are employed with the Bijapur, S.P., in arresting the accused have made a decisive effort to put down justice and adding to this, further interrogation will be made to adduce full particulars of the crime committed.

The suspect’s arrest raises the number of suspects arrested so far to four. Earlier, three persons were arrested, including Ritesh Chandrakar, who was arrested while he was at Raipur airport, and two others, Mahendra Ramteke and Dinesh Chandrakar, were arrested at Bijapur in Chhattisgarh.

Bastar Range Inspector General (IG) P. Sundarraj provided insight into the case, stating that Mukesh Chandrakar had been missing since the night of January 1, around 8:30 PM. According to the programme, Yukesh Chandrakar, the elder brother of Chhote Babu, lodged a report of disappearance at Bijapur Kotwali police station on January 2. Without wasting any time, the Bijapur police organized three investigation teams, with Yulandan Yark as the ASP and Durgesh Sharma as the inspector.

CDR and location data were used to establish the whereabouts of a user for the last time based on the data of deceased individuals. In a bid to reach out to Praveen and Preeti, they visited the home of contractor Suresh Chandrakar in Chattan Para. There is strict monitoring conducted by the Ward councillors, which on 3rd January observed an unusual occurrence in a badminton court that has a newly installed floor over a septic tank. Later, having searched the tank in the presence of a magistrate and other forensic specialists, a number of items linked to the case were discovered.

This arrest and the investigation that is still going on show the effort and strings that the police and SIT have put in to ensure that the victim gets justice. They also add that the case remains an ongoing one as more evidence and leads are followed.
