Kanker: A case has come to light of 35 young women from Chhattisgarh being held hostage in Jharkhand under the pretext of a job. The matter came to light after a message for help was sent from one of the young women’s phones to a young man from the village. The family has demanded the safe return of their daughters from the government and administration.
Taking the matter seriously, the administration and police have contacted the officials of the concerned district and initiated an investigation and search. It is reported that 15 of the 35 women are from Kanker, while the remaining women are from other districts of Chhattisgarh.
According to the information received, all of them were lured with the promise of a job, after which they reached Jharkhand, but now they are being held hostage and forced to work. During this, a young woman from Khutgaon in the Durgukandal area sent a message to a young man she knew on mobile and told her story. The young woman told that she and other young women were being held hostage and forced to work in the Garhwa district of Jharkhand. When the administration came to know about this, it took immediate cognizance, contacted the Garhwa district administration, and started the search operation.
In this matter, Collector Nilesh Kshirsagar said that information has been received that young women from Kanker and other districts had gone to Garhwa district in Jharkhand for nursing and other work, and complaints have been received that some of the women were held hostage. The district administration and police are working to bring the women back safely.
Regarding this matter, Women and Child Development Department Minister Laxmi Rajwade said that she has spoken with the Collector. It has been reported that some went there voluntarily, while others want to return. An administrative team is working to bring the girls back. Further action will be taken soon after contacting them.
