The GST authorities have conducted a late-night raid that has put a mining contractor in the spotlight in Bhanupratappur, Chhattisgarh. On Friday, the coordinated searches of the homes and office of the contractor Arvind Sahu were carried out by a unified group of the officials of the Delhi and Raipur, which amplified the investigation of his financial transactions.
The group, according to the sources, came in two cars and conducted simultaneous raids in the Sahu house in Bazarpara area and his office in Dalli Road. It was said that the operation started at around 11 pm and lasted almost two hours. In the search, the officials have checked documents of financial transactions and have also searched the electronic devices.
There are initial reports that some items were taken, such as a printer and some important documents, to conduct further investigation. But the authorities have yet to release official information about the exact contents of the materials that were discovered in the raid. The operation was also highly secretive and was even reportedly not known before hand by local police.
Arvind Sahu is reported to be connected with mining contracts connected with Neco Jaiswal Group which is even more interesting in the case. Interestingly, it is not the first occasion when he has been put on the scanner and this GST action had been conducted on his Raipur office a few months earlier.
Efforts to reach out to the contractor to respond failed because he failed to pick up calls. Authorities are likely to carry on with their investigation on the basis of the evidence found during the raid.
