Bijapur, Chhattisgarh: Four Jawans were injured on Tuesday after being hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxals in the Bijapur District. The incident occurred while a team of CRPF’s 153rd battalion was on search operation. At around 3 pm, the team suffered the blast on the Murkinar road under the Modakpal police station area, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P said.
Reportedly, the team had launched a search operation in the Naxal dominated area and was cordoning off the forest along Murkinar road, located around 450 km away from state capital Raipur when ultras detonated the IED. The patrolling team had launched the operation from its Chinnakodepal camp.
All affected Jawans have been lifted and admitted to the Bijapur district hospital for medical help, the IG added.
On January 30th, a Naxal was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. Personnel belonging to the District Reserve Guard and the 201st battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), an elite unit of the CRPF, were involved in the operation to ensure security for the ongoing road construction works in interior areas.
