FIR against Congress IT Cell Leader over alleged tampering of Nitin Nabin’s Tiranga photo

A controversy has erupted over a social media post allegedly shared by a Congress IT cell leader involving BJP national president Nitin Nabin. On a matter lodged by BJP chhattisgarh spokesperson Gaurishankar Shrivas, the police at Chhattisgarh’s Civil Lines have lodged an FIR against Congress IT cell chief Arun Sahu.

The complaint says Sahu allegedly altered an image of Nitin Nabin holding the national flag during the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ drive and circulated the modified one on social media platforms in line with an effort to spread falsehoods and slander the BJP leader.

The complaint alleged that Nabin hoisted the national flag at his residence when pertaining to the campaign; and that photographs or videos of the incident continue to exist. The image has been allegedly manipulated by “Sahu, the Bemetara district president of the Chhattisgarh Congress IT Cell” and uploaded from his social media handle. He later removed the post, to which there was a screen shot of the “alleged post,” attached to a police complaint.

Once the complaint was filed, the police at the Civil Lines registered an FIR under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act and Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the absence of which the offence would not be deemed to have been proved.

Now police are investigating the alleged social media post, its origin and other facts.

Congress leaders are throwing accusations against BJP leaders and flag on social media without getting to the facts, BJP spokesman Gaurishankar Shrivas said. He stated that steps will be taken against those who post objectionable images of the National flag and National Celebration.
