Raipur: The process of general and by-elections is going on in the urban bodies of Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has barred 103 people from contesting elections. Of these, a maximum of 55 people is from the Raipur Municipal Corporation area. Commission officials said that those who have been banned from contesting elections had contested the civic elections last time. According to the rules, all the contesting candidates have to give the account of their election expenses to the commission, but these people have not yet given the account to the commission. As a result, they have been banned from contesting elections for up to 5 years.
According to the officials of the Commission, the list of people who have been banned from contesting elections is also available on the website of the Commission. This list was released earlier. It has again been sent to the collectors for further steps. Reportedly, the process of general elections is going on in 15 urban bodies of the state. The commission has fixed the date of voting on December 20 and the counting of votes on December 23rd.
