In the case of CGPSC recruitment scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken an aggressive stance and arrested two accused persons in the probe in the DMF fund scam.

The agency has arrested two accused in the DMF fund scam case, Satpal Singh Chhabra, and an accused in the CGPSC scam case, Utkarsh Chandrakar. After the arrests both were brought before a special court for further proceedings.

The ED has filed for five days’ custodial remand of each accused so that they can interrogate them in respect of the individual cases. The investigating agency applied to the court for custody and this case is now before the special court.

The court proceedings also saw a dramatic scene when Satpal Singh Chhabra’s wife showed up in front of the court at its premises and allegedly had a showdown. The clash escalated minor internal disputes in the court premises for a short period.

As part of its probe into the alleged financial irregularities and other issues in the cases, the ED has demanded that both be brought into its custody for questioning. The agency is set to grill them on their supposed activities and pick up other details of the investigations.

The arrest has become the latest twist in both cases involving the court and is likely to become its next challenge as it seeks to determine whether the ED will be granted five-day custody. The direction of the proceedings will be the focus of further proceedings and if other people are alleged to be linked with the investigations they will be pursued.
