Raipur: Citing the sudden surge of COVID-19 cases in Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, the state govt has decided to tighten the precautionary norms.
Passengers arriving to Raipur from the hotspot regions have been put under strict scrutiny from Thursday.
State authorities have directed the railway department to set up separate counters at Railway Stations to screen the passengers arriving from these states. Apart from these states, the authorities are also instructed to test passengers arriving pan India.
All division commissioners and collectors have been directed to establish COVID screening centres at all Railway stations and initiate a contract tracing program in the state.
Abiding to the directions by the higher authorities, Raipur Railway Station Director Rakesh Singh informed that the Raipur railway authorities have established a screening centre for passengers at the main gate of the station. He also informed that strict surveillance of passengers arriving from Kerala and Maharashtra was being conducted. All passengers arriving in the state will have to adhere to protocols issued by the state administration.
State health department authorities have stressed the need for a test track and trace strategy at all entry points of the state. Chhattisgarh in the past 24 hours reported 25 active cases taking the tally to 1906.
