JASHPUR: Four including two minors of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group Pahadi Korwa family were found hanging in Jashpur on Sunday morning. Prima facie, it appears that the couple killed their children before committing suicide said police officials. Rajuram Korwa the man of the house and his wife Bhinsari Bai are suspected to have first killed their children and then committed suicide.
The bodies of the entire family were found hanging from a tree. The duo is said to be parents of five-year-old daughter Devanti Bai and three-year-old son Devan Sai. According to SSP Ravishankar, the incident was reported to the police on Sunday morning, following which Additional SP Umesh Kashyap, Bagicha Station house officer, and revenue officials rushed to the spot and removed the bodies.
The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained. However, a forensic team from Ambikapur has been deployed to file a report on the cause. A preliminary probe reveals the family was facing a land dispute against close relatives.
