INDIA: As India continues to fight the Coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a video conference with chief ministers of all states, primarily to take their suggestion on whether the 21 days lockdown be extended beyond April 14 to curb this deadly virus.After the feedback received, PM has indicated to increase the lockdown.

Accoding to the sources, Lockdown can be extended for two weeks. PM Narendra Modi may announce it today or tomorrow. The major focus for the states will be Districts across India which are identified as hotspots will be locked down more stringently, while others will be allowed some relaxation but all international health protocols to be followed.

After the meeting, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has given information about it by tweeting. He said that PM Modi has taken the right decision to increase the lockdown. Today, the condition of India is better than the developed countries of the world. We had already decided to lockdown.

Most states requested PM to extend the lockdown for two more weeks. The central government is considering this request,” said KS Dhatwalia, Principal Spokesperson to the Government of India.

In the virtual meeting with the Chief Ministers, PM Modi said “Jaan hai toh Jahaan hai”. Lockdown and social distance are necessary to save lives. Most of the people of the country have fulfilled their responsibility.

Almost Every state’s Chief Ministers demanded the lockdown to be carried forward. And different states reported lack of funds. At the same time, Odisha and Punjab have already announced to increase the lockdown.
