Chhattisgarh: While the nation is under lockdown to fight the COVID-19 crisis, a scheme is introduced to provide relief to all the needy who are struggling to arrange gas cylinders.  In Chhattisgarh, Indian oil along with other oil marketing companies (OMCs) have distributed more than 7.84 lakh free LPG cylinder to needy people during the nationwide lockdown to feed household cooking needs.

Under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana(PMGKY), 3.58 Lakh LPG cylinder has been distributed so far by Indian oil. This is aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by the poor due to economic disruption by Coronavirus. As on date, Oil Marketing Companies have initiated the transfer of Rs 224.54 crore into “Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana” (PMUY) beneficiary accounts for availing free delivery of LPG cylinder under the PMGKY. Out of these, IndianOil has transferred an amount of Rs. 118.66 Crore for 15.66 Lakh refills, so far.

Under this scheme, PMUY beneficiaries are being provided three times to 14.2-kg LPG refills or eight times 5-kg refills free of cost from April to June 2020. The scheme is available for 14.2-kg as well as 5-kg cylinder users. Beneficiaries can be booked in one month advance for one time in 14.2-kg or three times in 5-kg refills. Refills can be booked through a mobile phone or with the prescribed form which is easily available in the distributor office.

 All Customers, holding an installed LPG connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana are eligible to get the benefits of this scheme. Under the scheme, the Oil Marketing Companies have been transferring an advance equal to the RSP of one 14.2 kg refill or one 5 kg refill depending upon the type of package to the linked bank account of PMUY customer. The customer can use this advance money to take LPG refill.

To make this process easy and convenient, delivery boy’s are delivering LPG refills from home to home.  And people who are getting advantage of this scheme, shared their personal experience with official’s in which smt Kusum bai from Bastar district said that “After booking my Indane LPG refill, the corresponding amount was deposited directly in my bank account by IndianOil. Today, Indane LPG delivery boy has delivered the refill to my home. I thank IndianOil and our Prime Minister for this thoughtful gesture,” Similar words of praise come from Smt. Ful Bai from Jashpur District and Smt. Sushila Bai from Rajnandgaon District in Chhattisgarh, and Smt. Uma Bai living in Balrampur District, as well as from beneficiaries all across the nation.

Currently, there are 51.93 Lakh LPG  active consumers in Chhattisgarh, with the PMUY beneficiaries accounting for over 29.78 Lakh. Within Chhattisgarh only, every day OMCs are distributing 0.96 Lacs LPG cylinders which include about 0.47 Lakh free LPG cylinders.

During this nationwide lockdown when the people are staying home to stay safe, LPG delivery boys and all those in the supply chain of LPG are working tirelessly to ensure that clean fuel reaches people directly at their homes.
