Dharma Productions is all set to present its first mythological superhero genre with Gadadhari Bheem, an upcoming film directed by Abhishek Varman. The project brings together the filmmaker and director for the first time for a story inspired by the legendary Mahabharata character Bheem. The makers are looking to give the mythological character a superhero treatment.
As per sources, director Abhishek Varman has completed the script of the movie, and the makers are expected to move into the casting stage as they begin to put the project together.
The mythological drama is speculated to be a large-scale film. Produced by Karan Johar, the collaboration marks Dharma Productions’ first foray into the superhero genre. The mythological drama is expected to combine an emotionally driven story with grand visuals and large-scale production elements.
For Abhishek Varman, Gadadhari Bheem is a big change of lane. He started out in 2014 with 2 States, a romantic drama, and followed it with Kalank, a period film set in pre-Independence India. Dharma Productions backed both, so this will be the third time he and the studio have worked together.
Dharma has been branching out lately. It recently announced its first Malayalam film, Odiyan: The Age of Illusion, which is a folklore story.
The project stars Manju Warrier and Prithviraj Sukumaran and is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Supriya Menon.
Neither Dharma Productions nor Varman has officially announced Gadadhari Bheem, so everything here rests on reports for now.
