Raipur: There seems to be no respite from the coronavirus anytime soon as the caseload in Chhattisgarh reached 53,186, with an addition of 2,818 new cases on Wednesday.

According to the health bulletin, on Wednesday late night, apart from 2,564 new cases, it has also recorded 254 fresh cases, taking the total one day surge to 2818 – highest ever reported in the state.

In Chhattisgarh, the districts with the highest positive cases include Raipur (18,796), Durg (5316), Rajnandgaon (3996) and Bilaspur (3588).

Among the total active cases (28,041), 776 people are receiving treatment in ICUs across the state.

While Raipur recorded 6 deaths, Bilaspur and Behemetara recorded 2 deaths while Mahasamund, Balodabazar and Sarguja recorded 1 death each on Wednesday.

Out of 13 deaths, seven of the deceased either had a history of diabetics, hypertension, organophosphorous or poisoning.

With this, The death toll has rose to 477, including 57 deaths that has been recently discovered across all the districts while tally the data.

Discharges on Wednesday seemed to be on the higher end as the state put up a number of 1,146. So far, 24,414 people have recovered from the virus in the state, this includes the patients who were under home isolation.

A total of 7,19,630 samples were tested so far, out of which 19,101 were tested on Wednesday alone. Among the samples tested today 12,479 were Rapid Antigen Tests.
