Raipur : The horror of novel coronavirus in Chhattisgarh takes high pace with the biggest record of Fresh cases reported on Tuesday, according to State health bulletin.

Chhattisgarh reported 701 new COVID-19 cases and 8 more deaths, taking the statewide tally to 16,726 and the death toll to 158 on Tuesday, a health official said.

The day also saw the discharge of 249 patients following their recovery from the infection, taking the total recovered cases to 10,847.

Of the fresh cases recorded on Tuesday, 205 were reported from Raipur, followed by 92 from Durg, 63 from Raigarh, 48 each from Bastar and Rajnandgaon, 44 from Bilaspur, 34 from Balod, 21 from Korba, 20 from Narayanpur, 19 from Jashpur, 18 from Kanker, 16 from Sukma, among others.

Chhattisgarh, where the infection has spread in all the 28 districts, has recorded over 11,000 cases and 130 deaths just in the last one month, the official said.

Meanwhile, out of 8 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, 7 are from Raipur and 1 from Mahasamund. With this, the total death toll nears 150.

Currently, Raipur is the worst hit district in the state. So far, the capital has reported 5,831 cases. It also has the highest number of fatalities in Chhattisgarh with the death toll of 86 casualties alone.

The total number of tests conducted till Tuesday reached to 4,36,180 including 8,971 sample tested in the last 24 hours.
