Raipur: Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel is scheduled to visit Jhansi, UP on Sunday evening. According to the information given by an insider, he is expected to convene with officials from the business sector of the state at a private hotel the same day.
On the 14th of February, he would hold a door-to-door campaign for party candidate Rahul Richaria, who is contesting from Sirpi Bazar. Following which he will address a public gathering in Lalitpur and Mehrauni. Bhupesh Baghel was announced as the AICC observer for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Baghel was given the task of overseeing the Assam Assembly election earlier this year and he created a robust support system there, running a strong campaign along with the state unit despite starting very late. The same set of people is being used in Uttar Pradesh to assist Priyanka Gandhi who is the general secretary in charge.
Former minister Jitendra Singh, a Rahul Gandhi loyalist, who was in charge of Assam, is now looking after the candidate selection exercise in Uttar Pradesh.
UP underwent its first phase of polls in the western belt. 58 constituencies across 11 districts were polled on 10th February. The turnout for the first phase across the state was 57.78%. The second phase would be held on 14th February.
