Raipur: On his birthday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of Raipur made two significant decisions in favor of the workers. While celebrating his day, he graciously accepted well-wishes from citizens as he walked from Ambedkar Chowk to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk in Raipur, amidst which he made these pivotal announcements.
The first notable decision is the augmentation of funds under The Chief Minister’s Construction Workers Housing Scheme. Previously capped at Rs 50,000, the amount has now been doubled to Rs 1 lakh, a move aimed at bolstering the living standards of construction workers and addressing their housing needs more effectively.
The second announcement pertains to the administrative machinery that governs labor affairs. Offices in regions including Bastar, Surguja, Janjgir-Champa, Bauldabazar, and Rajnandgaon, which previously held the stature of labor offices, will now be elevated to the rank of labor commissioners. This enhancement is expected to streamline labor-related affairs and ensure a more structured and efficient redressal system for workers’ grievances.
Chief Minister Baghel also commented on political shifts in addition to these progressive steps for the workforce. Specifically, he addressed the matter of Guru Baladas moving to the BJP. He stated, “Our intent was to allocate some seats to Guru Baladas. However, the position of a minister was being sought. It’s challenging to accommodate such demands, especially when the current ministers are performing commendably. Guru Baladas’s switch to BJP appears to stem from personal aspirations. Nevertheless, this change is unlikely to significantly impact the Congress’s position or dynamics.”
